Mooch Tries to Sell Mortgage-Backed Securities, But Can't Get a Loan
WALL STREET — Mooch, the semi-fictional antihero of the Rejecta Film Festival's headline feature, attempted to enter the world of high finance this week — with predictably chaotic results.
In a now-viral video, Mooch is seen in an empty office lobby holding a whiteboard diagram labeled "Tranche Baby Tranche" and shouting, “These babies are AAA rated by the street!”
Unfortunately for Mooch, no actual bank, investor, or even friendly neighborhood bodega was willing to extend credit. “The paperwork was mostly napkins,” said one onlooker. “And one of the assets was a VHS of Shark Tale.”
While Mooch’s plan ultimately collapsed harder than the 2008 housing market, fans online praised the ambition. “It’s like The Big Short meets The Room,” wrote one user. “He didn’t understand CDOs, but he believed in them.”
