Director Says Film Was Inspired by a Dream, Then Admits He Was Just Tired
LOS ANGELES, CA — During a recent panel Q&A at the Not Cannes Film Salon (held in a strip mall yoga studio), filmmaker Jeff Ryan stunned attendees by revealing the source of inspiration behind his latest feature film, Mooch.
“I told everyone it came to me in a dream,” Ryan admitted while sipping from a lukewarm La Croix. “But honestly, I hadn’t slept in like three days. I think I just saw a Wawa sign and got emotional.”
Despite the anti-climactic revelation, fans remain supportive. “It actually makes the movie better,” said one festival-goer. “Knowing the hallucinations were real brings a layer of... truth?”
As for future projects, Ryan shared that he plans to stay up for four days straight next time in hopes of achieving a full-blown cinematic breakdown — or at least a tight 75-minute dramedy.
